Berikut beberapa catatan saya tentang penggunaan verbs tersebut
Verb 1 (infinitive/present simple)
Infinitive atau verb 1 merupakan kata kerja dapat digunakan untuk mengungkapkan pekerjaan yang dilakukan pada masa sekarang/ atau pekerjaan yang dilakukan secara rutin, berikut beberapa tempat penggunaan verb ini:
Mengungkapkan pekerjaan yang dilakukan pada masa sekarang / secara rutin
Sebagai contoh:
- Andi goes to school everyday
- Iwan and I read a newspaper in the office
Jika verb di dahului oleh kata kerja modal (can, must, will, could, ought to, would, have to)
Sebagai contoh:
- You must go now to my house
- Andy will book the ticket tomorrow
- I would go when you came yesterday
Verb 2 (Past simple)
Past simple digunakan untuk mengungkapkan pekerjaan atau perbuatan yang telah dilakukan masa lampau, dan penggunaan Verb 2 hanya terbatas untuk mengungkapkan kegiatan masa lampau,
Contoh penggunaan verb 2 adalah sebagai beriikut:
- Andy and his friends went to Senggigi beach yesterday
- Maulana wrote his paper one hour ago
Verb 3 (Past participle)
Past participle digunakan untuk menyatakan pekerjaan yang sudah lampau dan masih dikerjakan hingga sekarang. Berikut beberapa tempat penggunaan verb 3:
Mengungkapkan pekerjaan masa lampau dan masih dikerjakan hingga sekarang
Untuk menggunakan past participle pada kondisi ini, maka membutuhkan tambahan kata kerja auxiliary (have/has, had). Berikut beberapa contoh penggunaannya:
- I had gone to Gili Air when you came to my house
- I have drawn this picture for three hours
- He has been sitting there for five hours
Mengungkapkan kalimat pasif (passive voice)
Penggunaan verb 3 untuk passive voice membutuhkan tambahan kata kerja auxiliary (am, is, are, was, were). Berikut beberapa contoh penggunaan V3 untuk passive voice:
- I was visited by her last night
- You are invited by him to discussion session
Verb 4 (Present participle/gerund)
Present participle digunakan untuk mengungkapkan pekerjaan yang sedang berlangsung saat ini/pekerjaan yang sedang dikerjakan untuk menggunakan present participle ini dibutuhkan tambahan kata kerja auxiliary (am, is, are, were, was, be, been). berikut contoh penggunaan present participle
- She is reading a book in the library
- They are waiting for you now
